Daniel Mahony

Phsiotherapist
Daniel grew up in Perth, Western Australia. With both parents coming from rural WA, it didn’t take long before Daniels passion for rural and remote Australia became apparent whilst training to be a Physiotherapist at the University of Notre Dame Australia in Fremantle.
Whilst a student, Daniel held the positions of President, Vice-President and Secretary in WAALHIIBE Rural Health Club representing allied health students in WA. He also represented allied health students nationally as Co-Senior and Co-Junior Allied Health Portfolio Officer in the National Rural Health Students’ Network (NRHSN). Here, he worked with the network to further increase stakeholder relations, promote rural health careers and call for an equitable distribution of student scholarships and opportunities across all health disciplines.
Daniel is currently working as a Physiotherapist in the town of Katanning, WA located 300kms SE of Perth for WA Country Health Service. The town has a population of 4,500 and services the central Great Southern Region of WA. Daniel is a Board Member of Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH), Western Australian representative on the Australian Physiotherapy Association National Rural Issues Committee and is a member of the Health Workforce Australia Intrim Council of Future Health Leaders.
In his spare time, Daniel is a fire fighter and Secretary of the Katanning Volunteer Fire and Rescue Brigade and relaxes in his hammock overlooking the beautiful property he now calls home.
